I had never heard of it until I got a call from an Air Force colonel telling me I would be spending the next 3 years there. I taught Air Force ROTC, 1989-1992. I managed one triathlon at Wolfeboro, NH. "Spendy" is a nice understatement for a bunch of southwestern Vermont, too (unless you can get land in unpopulated towns, like Glastonbury or Somerset -- and I don't think you can).

All depends on what you want. Just for land, I'd look around northern and eastern Windham, near Townshend, Jamaica, Weston, Newfane and Bondville.

Yikes. I haven't done Naval diving and rigging. But come to think of it, I haven't done much in the way of triathlon training between a rebuilt shoulder, rehab and spring planting. So I think I'd better keep my shirt on until I flog myself back into shape.

Thanks for the good wishes! Not So Great Depressionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10455867402897131787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369026696710611175.post-46942678933435256802008-05-18T18:08:00.000-05:002008-05-18T18:08:00.000-05:00Hi, nice blog and such, seems like you have a good ...Hi, nice blog and such, seems like you have a good thing going. I'm a transplant Mass. boy living in Gig Harbor,WA and linked over from Cage Free. Been thinking about coming back for awhile now and shedding 52 years worth of "stuff" and appreciated your comments on required items to homestead. While in the Navy I had a girl up in St.Albans who went to Johnson St., used to hitchhike up from Groton. I've looked at Southern Vt. for property as my big sis lives in Gardner,MA. Bennington seems liberal enough for me but things are spendy. Any suggestions about S.Vermont? BTW, did several half triathalons in the early 90's, I was in shape(diver/rigger at Naval shipyard)but I damned near died! Look back with pride though, finished mid pack. Anyhow, wanted to say hello...Good luck with your farm.

PS: proud of that washboard are ya?
Put a shirt in for chrissakes...

Later, KevinKevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06472248018190276622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369026696710611175.post-48037806675675853492008-05-14T09:57:00.000-05:002008-05-14T09:57:00.000-05:00I am a friend of the family and you might want to...I am a friend of the family and you might want to get your facts straight before you post something this insensitive.Jan Locanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06030500947953099971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369026696710611175.post-41654614312043117112008-03-24T11:31:00.000-05:002008-03-24T11:31:00.000-05:00Why don't his parents enroll him in some sort of m...Why don't his parents enroll him in some sort of martial art or boxing class so that he can learn to defend himself. I had a shorty and wore it for bouyancy only. Most people had full wetsuits because they expected it to be cold not becuase it was cold. I blogged about this a bit on westwoodtri.blogspot.com .

In a related note, I don't think people realize how much safer you are when wearing a wetsuit. It keeps you floating and keeps you from tiring out trying to stay afloat.
